Our Service Programs
Casting for Hope uses two primary methods to serve women with ovarian and gynecological cancers in western North Carolina.
The first is to provide comfort to women who are surviving with ovarian and other gynecological cancers and their families by providing “gap funding” through our financial aid and resource services. We accomplish this goal by drawing upon our vast network of supporters to provide direct items such as toiletry items, food products, and supplement needs. We also accomplish this goal by drawing upon our fundraising ventures to provide direct financial aid when insurance limitations, personal incomes, and exhausted resources overwhelm the survivors whom we serve. Our financial aid program includes, but isn’t limited to, providing the funds for our patients to purchase over-the-counter medications and supplies that aren’t covered by insurance, helping with insurance co-pays, and providing gas cards to get patients to and from treatments.

Our second goal is to provide tangible respite. Our founders, John and Taylor, have experienced first hand the power of leaving the every day for the running waters of North Carolina’s trout streams. Our retreats provide a weekend of solace and rest by fusing lodging; meals; instruction in fly fishing, fly casting, and fly-fishing equipment; and discussions facilitated by national leaders in oncology health.
